Clarks Fork Wyoming. Although the route we chose to go down is very memorable we would not recommend it, it was a very difficult and extremely dangerous route. Also the hike back up we ran into the aftermath of an old wind storm. Hundreds and hundreds of fallen trees.

We decided to approach Deep lake from the west side. We took the razor and got a little bit of a head start than grabbed our packs and headed off. It started off nice and easy going through the tundra like plain, eventually finding a trail and reminiscence of some buildings and a bridge.

After the opening with these buildings we lost the trail and decided to head down the drainage, now this did work for a little while but it only grew harder and harder.

Route down to Deep

Eventually we made it to the lake to be welcomed to an amazing but well used camp spot. Plenty of firewood still available. This trip took a couple hours longer than we expected so we did not have much time to fish, we did catch a few about average size 8″-12″.

This lake does have an interesting feature, if you follow our route you will miss this feature unless you hike around the lake. There is potentially the largest rock slide in the United states on the northeast corner. Here is a link if you are interested in a read.

Once we decided to head back we where able to find a trail again and follow it up for a little ways. There isn’t much of. Trail it is mostly just cairns. Than the real fun began, once again we lost the trail and found the after math to a wind storm. This is what we got to hike in for about two hours. SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURESThere a couple things we would recommend to you if you are interested in this trip. The first would be considering entering from the northeast drainage. If you do enter from the west be sure follow the trail. After the opening with the buildings the trail appears to head into the drainage but it does not it curves to the south. Don’t make the same mistake we did when heading back up, this micro burst was miserable and made this hike much harder than it should have been
