If you are interested in taking the 4 wheeler out, or your aftermarket 4X4 buggy this is the place you should be interested in heading to! Spend 2 or 3 nights here is prime, as it will give you enough time to venture through everything. This is in the Stillwater drainage.

There are quite a few of lakes on this trip so just bear with us as we name them. These lake are all off the trail or within a stone throw from the trail: Lone lake(fishless), Mud Lake(fishless), Corner, Round Lake, Long Lake, Companion and Star.

These lakes are within a 5-10 minute walk from the off road trail: Schoolarm, Ovis, Bob, Dick, Huckleberry, Astral, Green, Little Green, Snow Lake, Wall, Goose, and Little Goose. Some of these may be a little over 10 minutes of walking. For example Wall lake is maybe 15-20 minutes but they are all close and should be considered hitting if you have the strength. There are also some lakes that are a little further away such as Swamp, Weidy, and Marsh but we will go over those lakes in a different blog.

The road does get very tricky at certain times and with more traffic it only gets worse. Even if you have a 4 wheeler be sure to have some background experience with one. This trail gets rocky, steep, and side-hilly at times, We have been on 4 wheelers since we where little and there was one particular spot that drops down before Goose that got my heart racing. We have seen one buggy here, it had 45s on and he had to tow it out, because it smashed down on a rock.  Just and FYI this buggy was just lifted with tires nothing really aftermarket other than that.

If lakes are not your thing than there is plenty of history around Goose Lake. There is a couple abandoned mine camps and mine equipment surrounding this place. So that in itself is worth the trip. Lets us know if you have any questions we will be happy to give you some advice. There is also lots of great fishing opportunities around here including fishing the drainage so be on the lookout! Oh and you will have company, this is a very popular place, although you will be spread out enough to not have neighbors.
